Job Summary
Cost Manager / Quantity Surveyor for data center construction overseeing cost planning, change management, and commercial delivery across pre- and post-contract phases. Responsibilities include estimating and negotiating change orders, developing and presenting final cost plans, aligning cost estimates with design teams and general contractors, reconciling cost changes, tracking project status and cost forecasts with owner’s project manager, preparing commentary on contractor submissions, coordinating all cost information sources, informing design decisions based on cost impacts, proactively resolving scheduling and commercial issues, managing cost checks, valuations, contingency tracking, and maintaining cost logs. Lead post-contract cost variance and change control, support VE sessions and value engineering, ensure internal controls (SOX where applicable), develop cost plans across design milestones, provide commercial input into design optioneering, review pricing, lead negotiations for fair pricing, perform quantity surveying and cost control activities, oversee cost auditing and valuation processes, produce monthly cost reports, and assist final accounts. Strong proficiency in cost management tools and Excel-based modeling; experience with senior stakeholders in a client-facing environment; RICS accreditation preferred but not required. On-site presence may change depending on client needs.
Required Qualifications
- Degree in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Engineering, or related field
- Minimum of 4+ years’ experience in a construction cost management role on medium to large, complex projects
