Job Summary
Prepare conceptual, preliminary, and detailed cost estimates for complex construction projects, determining logical activity sequences, equipment needs, and material quantities. Research industry methods to improve estimate accuracy, monitor estimate performance, and adjust data for maximum results. Participate in project walk-downs, perform value engineering analysis, and critically review estimates prepared by others. Interface continuously with engineering, planning, and construction personnel to resolve issues and present trend analysis reports. Operate in a teamwork environment while traveling to corporate offices and project sites as needed. Requires a REAL ID-compliant driver's license; role is hybrid/remote with routine team meetings in Chattanooga.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of one year of work experience in Cost estimating
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ideally in the power/transmission field
- Ideally reside in Chattanooga TN
- Willing to come to the Chattanooga office for team meetings routinely
- Hybrid/remote availability
- Experience working with conceptual, preliminary and detailed cost estimates
- Experience construction, engineering or electrical power system environment
- PC software (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint)
- Cost estimating techniques & software
- Statistical analysis
- Interpretation of engineering data and drawing information
- Engineering Economy
- Value Engineering concepts & methods
- Benchmarking methods
- General Financial & Accounting Practices
- Understanding of power transmission systems
- Working knowledge of construction methods, operations, capabilities
- Engineering & Administrative procedures, policies, standards, safety rules
- Communication skills, both verbal and written
- Clearance and Health Regiments
- Criminal Background Check
- Pre-placement Drug Screening
- REAL ID-compliant driver's license or identification card
- U.S. passport as long as it clearly displays issuance date, expiration date, and color photo image
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related technical field, or equivalent education, training & experience
- Certification by AACE (Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering) as a Certified Cost Engineer (CCE) or Certified Cost Consultant (CCC)
- Experience working with conceptual, preliminary and detailed cost estimates
- Experience construction, engineering or electrical power system environment
