Cost Engineer - Underground Construction

Job Summary
Develop and maintain project budgets by reorganizing them for changes in means and methods and updating activities for additional work. Support cost tracking, reporting, and forecasting through coding and reviewing timesheets and invoices for accuracy while ensuring weekly quantity and production tracking. Manage the change order process and assist with preparing cost estimates and negotiating additional work, including Time & Material tracking. Participate in subcontractor and material supplier quote analysis and negotiations, and prepare quarterly project audits based on ongoing construction knowledge. Provide supervision or on-the-job training to clerical and entry-level personnel as needed. Assist with project close-out and maintain customer relationships. Work on the project site under the direct supervision of the Project Controls Manager.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, business or equivalent
- 3-4 years of construction experience
- Ability to read and analyze engineering drawings and specifications
- Strong knowledge and understanding of contracts and contract language
- Ability to identify, prioritize and mitigate project risk
- Computer knowledge and efficiency, including Microsoft Office products and SharePoint
- Excellent analytical skills
- Functions effectively as part of a team
- Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality at all times
- Strong written and communication skills
- Good time management and organizational skills
- Ability to understand and follow directions
