Cost Engineer

Job Summary
Develop project cost control data structures to accurately track actual costs against baselines and established budget constraints. Drive cost performance reporting including all Earned Value Management metrics, estimated work to complete, and estimate at complete. Monitor project accruals, commitments, contingency, and exposure related to risk events, while ensuring change control aligns with agreed baselines. Track key project trends to inform future controls. Work across the full project lifecycle from pre-investment to commissioning, utilizing systems like Prism, Ecosys, SAP, and Oracle. Adhere to SOX control responsibilities where applicable.
Required Qualifications
- Typically, a qualified graduate in a relevant discipline
- Proven working experience in the delivery of project controls services for major projects or programmes
- Delivered cost engineering across a range of major projects
- Experience across multiple sectors
- Worked across the full project lifecycle including for pre-investment decision, design development, execution, and commissioning phases
- Experience in working to cost engineering procedures and processes
- The ability to define project cost procedures and standards to which the project and/or programme will adhere to
- Highly conversant with cost management systems such as Prism and Ecosys
- Experience with the interface with corporate finance systems such as SAP and Oracle
- An appreciation of business rules, and how project funding and performance aligns with business financial account requirements within the project or programme environment
- SOX control responsibilities may be part of this role, which are to be adhered to where applicable
