Job Summary
Lead cost optimization across Spin Master's global product portfolios from initial concept through production, generating preliminary estimates from sketches or CAD models and applying design-for-manufacturing principles. Partner with cross-functional teams to balance design integrity with financial targets, conducting Value Analysis/Value Engineering meetings to identify cost reductions and improve margin performance. Analyze product functions to assist design and marketing teams, train development staff on estimation methodologies, and evaluate vendor quotations to drive tooling capital expenditure reductions. Conduct on-site evaluations at production vendors to optimize manufacturing processes and assess new materials or automation techniques for future product lines.
Required Qualifications
- Proven track record in cost engineering, cost estimating, product engineering, or a related development-support field
- Deep technical knowledge of manufacturing processes, including injection molding, automated assembly, wood, plastics, fabrics, electronics, and packaging components
- Strong competency in applying design-for-manufacturing and design-for-assembly (DFMA) principles
- Demonstrated ability to interpret design sketches, preliminary CAD, and technical specifications to build robust bottom-up cost models
- Experience leading cross-functional cost-reduction initiatives and presenting project progress to executive leadership
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally to support on-site vendor projects
Desired Qualifications
- Prior experience in toys, games, soft goods, or consumer packaged goods (CPG)
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related engineering discipline
