Job Summary
Cost Control Specialist responsible for setting up and maintaining cost control structures (WBS and CBS), monitoring project expenditures, and providing accurate and timely financial reporting. Responsibilities include data integrity audits on cost coding, contributing to cost trend analysis, preparing and delivering EVM metrics (CPI and SPI), assisting with monthly invoices and forecasting, coordinating with Project Controls Coordinators, supporting change control processes, analyzing material and subcontract costs, mentoring junior team members, and engaging with stakeholders to align cost expectations. Requires experience in cost control tools, Excel, and visualization tools; familiarity with InEight is a plus. The role involves site-based work in Canada with remote work options and irregular hours as project deadlines demand.
Required Qualifications
- Certified cost professional through AACE (or working towards certification) or supporting diploma or degree, or combination of education and related experience
- 3-8 years of relevant experience in cost control, project controls, or a similar role
- Proficiency in cost control tools and software
- Experience with InEight Software is an asset
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and advanced formulas
- Experience with Power BI or other advanced reporting/visualization tools
- Familiarity with Earned Value Management (EVM) principles
- Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contracts
- Excellent communication skills for report preparation and stakeholder engagement
- Willingness to work irregular hours and flexibility to work across various project locations
- Comfortable working in site-based environments and interacting with field teams and clients
