Cost Consultant (Mechanical Estimating)

Job Summary

Produce and present final cost plans while preparing construction cost estimates for commercial, institutional, and residential projects across Canada. Manage estimating and cost planning activities, including cost analysis, checking, and valuation work for mechanical and electrical systems at all design stages. Lead value engineering, LEED analysis, and life cycle costing initiatives, then negotiate and approve final accounts. Maintain liaison with clients and other consultants throughout project lifecycles. Identify new business opportunities with existing clients and report findings to the line manager.

Required Qualifications

  • experienced Cost Consultant
  • relevant experience
  • Knowledge of Mechanical and/or Electrical Engineering and design
  • Experience preparing mechanical and electrical cost estimates for complex construction projects
  • Good understanding of construction procurement methodologies
  • Experience advising clients on value management, value engineering, and life‐cycle costing
  • Membership in a relevant professional organizations (i.e. RICS, CIQS, AACEI)

Desired Qualifications

  • Knowledge of MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) systems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • experience with AutoCAD, Navisworks, or related software
  • Strong presentation, verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong organizational abilities, multitasking capability, and a collaborative mindset
  • Certification or designation from a professional organization (i.e. MRICS, PQS, CCP)
