Job Summary
Cost Accounting Manager at a manufacturing site leads cost accounting activities, including standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory valuation. Own and maintain standard cost systems with BOMs and production routings. Analyze material, labor, and overhead costs to identify trends, variances, and cost-saving opportunities. Partner with plant operations leadership to improve cost control and operational performance. Support ERP-driven cost accounting close in SAP (month-, quarter-, year-end), monitor KPIs such as production efficiency, scrap, and yield, and assist budgeting and forecasting. Ensure accurate inventory accounting through cycle counts and physical inventories. Provide detailed analysis of production variances and operational discrepancies, support internal and external audits, and supervise accounting staff. Compensation includes base salary 100k–120k plus bonus eligibility and comprehensive benefits; relocation assistance available.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
- 3+ years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
- Experience with standard costing
- Experience with variance analysis (material, labor, overhead)
- Inventory accounting and controls
- Experience using SAP in a manufacturing environment (costing, inventory, or production-related modules)
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, data analysis)
- Experience leading or supervising accounting staff
- Ability to work onsite in Janesville, WI (relocation assistance available)
- Experience with SAP CO, FI, MM, PP
- Experience with Power BI or other data visualization tools
- Experience supporting plant-level accounting or manufacturing operations finance
