Cost Accounting Manager

Job Summary

Own the standard costing process across all co-packing lines, including development and maintenance of bills of materials, routings, and labor/overhead absorption rates by SKU. Lead job costing for multi-client production runs, analyze variances between standard and actual costs, and partner with Operations to drive corrective action. Directly supervise and develop cost accounting staff while preparing SKU-level and customer-level margin reporting to support commercial pricing. Own inventory valuation, lead cycle counts and physical inventory audits, and partner with Supply Chain to evaluate cost impacts of new customers and production changes. Support month-end financial close, ensure GAAP compliance, and lead financial audits and tax filings related to inventory and cost of goods sold.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • CPA, CMA, or CPIM preferred
  • Minimum of 5–7+ years of cost accounting experience
  • Prior supervisory or team lead experience
  • CPG, co-packing, or manufacturing industry experience
  • Deep working knowledge of standard costing
  • Deep working knowledge of job costing
  • Deep working knowledge of BOMs/routings
  • Deep working knowledge of variance analysis (material, labor, overhead, yield, and waste) in a multi-client manufacturing environment
  • Strong understanding of inventory valuation and WIP accounting in a production environment
  • Knowledge of and ability to ensure compliance with GAAP and internal controls over financial reporting, including segregation of duties principles
  • Prior experience with SAP S/4HANA, NetSuite, SYSPRO, or similar ERP accounting software
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and develop a team of cost accountants
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders, including executive leadership
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities simultaneously
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Hands-on leader who enjoys building processes and developing teams in a collaborative environment
