Cost Accountant

Job Summary
Develop and analyze standard costs for raw materials, labor, and overhead in metal stamping environments. Perform cost variance analysis to identify material, labor, and overhead discrepancies, then partner with production, engineering, and purchasing teams to validate bill of materials and routings. Monitor inventory transactions, reconcile work-in-process and finished goods, and conduct physical counts. Analyze scrap, rework, and yield data to uncover cost-saving opportunities while supporting month-end close activities such as journal entries and account reconciliations. Prepare profitability studies and assist with budgeting and forecasting for manufacturing operations. Ensure GAAP compliance and internal controls.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 3-5+ years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
- Strong understanding of standard costing systems and inventory accounting
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Ability to work cross-functionally with operations and engineering team
- Excellent organizational, communication, and time-management skills
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Strong interpersonal skills

- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) when present in designated production areas
Desired Qualifications
- metal stamping or fabrication industry experience
- Experience with ERP systems, Plex is a plus (or similar e.g. SAP, Oracle)
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as stamping, welding, machining, or assembly
