COS Material Handler/Driver

Job Summary

Conduct receiving, order fulfillment, and shipping operations including product picking, packing, and stock replenishment. Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other power equipment to move, stack, and locate products daily. Drive straight body vehicles to deliver supplies to customer job sites or store locations, managing route sequencing and verifying deliveries against sales orders. Perform maintenance on company vehicles and warehouse equipment, inspecting trucks for defects and completing required logs. Scan products with RF scanners, print labels, and document hazardous materials shipments while maintaining accurate inventory through cycle counts. Communicate delivery issues and customer feedback to supervisors, ensuring all paperwork and safety protocols are followed.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 1+ years of truck driving experience (26 ft vehicle or larger)
  • 1 year operating Johnstone equipment/vehicles under supervision
  • equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience operating forklift and other warehouse equipment safely and competently
  • valid drivers' license with a driving record indicating a safe driving history acceptable to the company
  • eligibility to drive a commercial motor vehicle under applicable state and federal laws and FMCSA regulations
  • Forklift certification
  • willingness to obtain forklift certification on the job
  • Ability to utilize necessary technology to complete tasks, GPS, mobile Proof of Delivery (POD) devices, RF equipment, and ERP software
  • Ability to read a map and mapping applications accurately
  • Ability to read, add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Ability to work safely in all job tasks
  • Skill in operation of delivery vehicles and power equipment, including forklift, pallet jack, and cherry picker
  • ability to operate a lift gate safely and effectively
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull, and maneuver large/heavy products or pieces of equipment while working within established safety guidelines
  • Familiarity with warehouse or distribution center management systems and order picking processes
  • Ability to follow instructions and procedures
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work
  • Ability to attend to details
  • Ability to complete routine paperwork
  • Ability to work with others in a team-based environment

Desired Qualifications

  • 6+ months of experience in a warehouse and/or distribution facility
  • experience in a warehouse and/or distribution facility, preferably in HVAC/R or related field
  • Experience with a picker, RF scanner, and inventory management systems
  • Knowledge of HVAC wholesale industry, principles, and practices
  • Previous experience with OSHA and safety regulations and procedures
