Job Summary
Environmental Technician at Cortez location collects environmental data and samples for compliance reporting, calibrates and maintains instruments, manages sample custody and data in the EQuIS database, completes inspections for various compliance programs, trains site personnel, and travels to remote areas of the site to support open pit and underground mining operations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental science or related field or a minimum of 1-2 years in an environmental technician or similar role – preferred
- Ability and willingness to work outdoors throughout the year, with little supervision in remote areas; required
- Ability to troubleshoot and perform repairs and maintenance to sampling equipment including pumps, tubing, calibration meters, etc.; required
- Ability to operate light vehicles, off-road vehicles, and trailers while navigating dirt roads
- Ability to regularly walk over uneven, sloped, rocky, wet or icy ground; required
- Ability to lift 50 or more pounds consistently and safely; required
- Ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with others; required
- Previous experience in data collection, database management, field instrumentation calibration/use and electronics; preferred
- Strong computer skills including PowerPoint, Word & Excel; preferred
