Job Summary

Assess inmate health problems, administer prescribed treatments and medications, and respond to day-to-day medical issues and emergencies. Prepare medical equipment, records, and rooms for examinations, maintain IVs for therapies, and review medical services with the Health Services Administrator. Provide education on diet, hygiene, and disease prevention while maintaining security of the institution and using standard medical equipment safely. Travel weekly to designated CorrHealth facilities in CO, NM, TX, and WY on a full-time basis with flexible day/night availability seven days a week.

Required Qualifications

Current and unrestricted compact license as Registered Nurse
Degree or diploma from a professional nursing program approved by the legally designated state accrediting agent
Currently AED certified
Current CPR/BLS certification
Current TB test (taken within one year)
Must be willing to travel weekly
Must have flexible availability both days and nights seven (7) days a week
Must maintain all certifications, educational requirements, licensing, etc.
Must have current TB test (taken within one year)
Must undergo security training and orientation on facility safety policies and procedures
Ability to both remain stationary and move/traverse throughout the facility, including up and down flights of stairs
Ability to position oneself in different spaces
Ability to convey and discern information in a conversation
Ability to identify and detect objects and assess situations from a variety of distances
Ability to stay calm in stressful and demanding situations
Ability to transport objects up to 50 pounds
Must be able to pass a background check and pre-employment drug test
Must be willing to follow facility specific policies and procedures
Must be willing to assist coworkers in the job duties and work overtime if required
Must maintain confidentiality, dignity, and security of health records and protected health information in compliance with HIPAA requirements
Must be able to use a computer and use/learn a variety of software
Must demonstrate ability to appropriately and safely use standard medical equipment
Must be able to exchange accurate information
Must be able to assess situations
Must be able to treat every other member of the CorrHealth team, all correctional personnel, all inmates and third parties in the facility with the proper dignity and respect
Must comply with all current and future State, Federal, and Local laws and regulations
Must comply with all current and future State, Federal, and Local laws and regulations, court orders, Administrative Directives and standards and policies and procedures of the site where assigned
