Job Summary
The Corrections Officer supervises the security and conduct of inmates in cells, during group meetings, meals, recreation, visitations, and work assignments; maintains facility perimeter security; performs security checks, shakedowns and searches; maintains logs and writes incident reports; escorts inmates to visitations, court, and work assignments; attends shift briefings and identifies security weaknesses; performs other duties as assigned. Requires the ability to de-escalate high-tension situations, monitor inmate behavior, write detailed reports, perform physically demanding tasks including emergency responses, make quick, sound decisions in high-stress situations, and apply self-defense tactics when necessary. Minimum qualifications include the equivalent of a high school diploma. Licensure/Certifications: N/A. The role is designated as a safety-sensitive position with related policies and testing in effect.
