Job Summary
Conduct law enforcement duties outside and provide tactical responses inside while learning defensive tactics and de-escalation techniques. Assist the public and manage the prisoner population by housing inmates, processing new arrestees, and responding to emergency situations, including work with the mentally ill. Complete POST Certification Training coursework covering Federal and State laws, ethical leadership, verbal communication, physical fitness, and defensive tactics. Maintain a valid Utah Driver's license and pass the NPOST score and PT Test. Start at $31.01 per hour with full benefits, including Public Safety retirement, health insurance, and tuition reimbursement. Training begins March 1, 2027.
Required Qualifications
- U.S. citizen or have lived in the country for at least five years and have legal authorization to work
- At least 19 years of age by the date of hire
- Resident of the State of Utah at the time of hire
- Valid Utah Driver's license at time of hire
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- No disqualifying criminal history
- Passing NPOST score at 70% or higher
- Pass the PT Test
- Vertical Jump = 14.5 inches
- Push-Up = 14
- Isometric Plank = 30 seconds
- 1.5 Mile Run = Under 16 minutes and 11 seconds
- Pass a Medical/Physical Evaluation
- Pass a Drug screen
