Job Summary
Corrections Deputy I-III duties include maintaining the security of the Tooele County Detention Facility, upholding order, and ensuring prisoner welfare. Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED; be at least 19; be a U.S. citizen and Utah resident; possess a valid Utah driver's license; and successfully pass a comprehensive background, drug test, and psychological evaluation. POST certification is required for certified applicants, otherwise a POS T exam copy must be attached. Physical fitness tests include vertical leap, push-ups, isometric plank, and a 1.5 mile run. Deputy II requires additional sworn corrections/law enforcement experience and training certifications; Deputy III requires further experience or a bachelor’s degree with coursework from the career ladder. Required Qualifications
- Graduation from high school or GED
- 2 years of responsible work experience
- Ability to be qualified in the use of firearms
- Must pass a comprehensive background investigation, drug testing, and a psychological evaluation
- 19 years of age at time of hire
- Citizen of the United States; resident of Utah
- Must possess and maintain a valid Utah Driver's License; No disqualifying criminal history; No DUI convictions in past two years
- Corrections Deputy II: minimum of two years full-time sworn corrections/law enforcement experience; two training certifications
- Corrections Deputy III: minimum of five years full-time sworn corrections/law enforcement experience or three years with a bachelor's degree; completion of three courses from career ladder
