Job Summary
Provide comprehensive nursing care to incarcerated individuals by performing assessments, triage, and ongoing monitoring of acute and chronic conditions. Develop individualized care plans, administer medications and immunizations, and respond to medical emergencies with appropriate interventions. Collect specimens, perform diagnostic testing, and document all health status changes in electronic medical records. Assist with intake screenings, chronic care clinics, sick call, and discharge planning while collaborating with physicians and interdisciplinary teams. Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to the Pennsylvania Nurse Practice Act and facility security procedures. Requires active Pennsylvania RN license, one year of recent nursing experience, and BLS certification.
Required Qualifications
- Current, active Pennsylvania Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing
- Minimum of one (1) year of recent Registered Nurse experience
- Current BLS certification
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office and electronic medical record (EMR) systems
- Ability to accurately document assessments, treatments, and inmate health information in an electronic medical record
- Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and emergency response skills
- Ability to work effectively in a secure correctional environment while maintaining professionalism and therapeutic communication
Desired Qualifications
- correctional, emergency, medical-surgical, behavioral health, or acute care experience
- ACLS certification
