Job Summary
As a Correctional Officer at the Oregon Department of Corrections, you will work in a team setting to maintain order within the institution and enforce rules and regulations while providing care and monitoring activities of adults in custody. Responsibilities include conducting cell searches, settling disputes, and ensuring safety and security within the facility. The position requires integrity, motivation, and a dedication to assisting individuals in a correctional setting. Successful candidates will undergo initial training in the Basic Corrections Course, which includes comprehensive on-the-job training.
Required Qualifications
- Possess a high school diploma or GED
- Be 21 years of age or older
- United States citizen
- Meet DPSST Physical Standards
- Possess reading comprehension, report writing, and retention abilities
- Satisfactorily complete an ODOC background investigation
- Must pass NTN test with a minimum score of 70 percent in all areas
- Pass a psychological evaluation and risk assessment as required by HB 2936
- No evidence of substance abuse
- Proficient using computers
- Must possess a valid driver's license
