Job Summary
Correctional Officer responsible for the care and custody of offenders, providing direct supervision during daily duties, preventing escapes, and maintaining discipline in accordance with laws, rules, and standard operating procedures. Duties include searching for contraband, supervising offender activities (housing, work, and other areas), transporting offenders by various vehicles, handling emergencies with the ability to climb stairs and ladders, and applying knowledge of offender records to duties. Requires physical ability to perform tasks such as lifting up to 45 pounds, standing, walking, and operating equipment, with a focus on security and safety within the facility. Pre-employment drug screening, background check, physical and psychological examination are required. High school diploma or GED and a Texas driver's license are mandatory; minimum related experience preferred (1 year). Special training within one year of hire is required; strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills are necessary.
