Job Summary
Correctional Officer Sergeant responsible for supervising inmates, managing housing areas, enforcing rules and sanitation, transporting inmates with approved restraints, conducting head counts, controlling inmate movement both inside and outside secured perimeters, performing crisis intervention and using required force as needed, wearing body armor and weapons, maintaining facility security, inspecting for contraband, monitoring inmate behavior, using counseling/referral actions, conducting surveillance, and providing emergency assistance including CPR/first aid; participates in mandatory training and complies with reporting requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Be a citizen of the United States
- Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent
- Must have completed the basic recruit training course for correctional officers and have one year of experience as a certified officer with the State of Florida
- Must not have received a suspension within the past 12 months
- Must not have received an involuntary demotion within the past 24 months
- Must not have received less than a 3.00 rating on a performance evaluation within the past 3 fiscal years
