Job Summary
Monitor and safeguard residents in direct supervision housing units by managing routines, supervising meals, conducting searches, and evaluating behavior. Instruct and direct residents while ensuring unit safety, including addressing disruptive or violent incidents. Write reports and utilize software systems for documentation. Work mandatory and voluntary overtime, including weekends and holidays, to meet staffing needs. Complete required law enforcement training and certification during the probationary period.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum Age of 18
- High School Diploma, HSED or GED
- Valid Driver's License
- Applicants shall be of good moral character determined from the results of fingerprinting and background investigation
- Certification by the Law Enforcement Standards Board must be acquired during the probationary period and maintained during incumbency
- Must have the ability to walk, stand, sit, kneel, push, stoop, crawl, twist, reach above shoulder, grasp, pull, bend repeatedly, climb stairs and ladders, identify colors, and lift and carry 50 lbs
- Candidates must successfully complete appropriate training program
- Positions require successful completion of law enforcement training courses
- Applicants will be required to submit to a thorough background investigation
- Applicants will also be required to pass a pre-employment drug testing and medical examination after preliminary offer of employment
- Appointee must establish Wisconsin State residency within six (6) months of starting date
- Applicants must possess the minimum qualifications at the time of filing an application
- Must be available to work mandatory and voluntary overtime, including weekends, holidays, and extended shifts
