Job Summary
Part-time Corporate Security Specialist for Des Moines, IA and Sioux Falls, SD offices. Responsibilities include patrols, monitoring security systems, responding to incidents, and coordinating with internal teams and emergency personnel to maintain a safe environment. Requires 2+ years in security, high school diploma or equivalent, Axon certification or ability to obtain, and ability to work in-office evenings/nights/weekends. Des Moines averages ~20 hrs/week; Sioux Falls ~32 hrs/week. Mobility and confidentiality are essential; in-office commitment is primary with potential limited remote work. Office-based duties, security operations, risk assessment, incident response, emergency protocols familiarity, and strong communication are key.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (bachelor’s degree in security management or related field preferred)
- 2+ years of experience in a security role, preferably within a corporate environment or related security/protective services role
- Demonstrated expertise in risk assessment and emergency response
- Conflict resolution skills and de-escalation abilities
- Familiarity with emergency medical protocols (e.g., AED) and crisis response strategies
- Ability to think critically and apply sound judgment in high-pressure situations
- Knowledge of defensive tactics and security equipment
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism with sensitive information
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a security team and interface with emergency personnel
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, nights and weekends
- Axon certification required or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel as needed
- Office-based: in-office presence required; occasional remote work may be permitted based on workload and manager approval
Desired Qualifications
- Axon certification
- Certified Protection Professional (CPP) or equivalent
- Military or law enforcement background
- Experience in corporate security or high-profile executive protection
- Experience in security operations and incident response
- Familiarity with emergency medical protocols (AED, TECC/TCCC)
- Conflict resolution and de-escalation training
- Security technologies and access control familiarity
- Security training and awareness programs (training capability)
