Corporate Safety Coordinator

Job Summary
Implement and monitor the Thyssen Safety Management Plan across all operating sites, including joint venture projects, shop, and head office. Conduct regular site inspections, risk assessments, and accident investigations to ensure compliance with legislation and standard operating procedures. Lead in-house and external training programs, manage WCB claims, and liaise with regulatory bodies to maintain mandatory compliance. Oversee the safe installation of equipment, hazardous substance disposal, and evacuation drills while assisting in project mobilization and recruitment. Maintain safety databases, audit operations for deficiencies, and communicate findings to senior management for rectification.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of hands on experience in area of supervision
- Minimum of five (5) years of safety related experience
- Knowledge of legislative regulations, policies and codes as they apply to the mining industry
- Ability to write and administer safety policies as required
- Valid MSHA Trainer Blue Card as a minimum and/or CMSP designation
- Knowledge of tools, equipment and materials common to the work site
- Knowledge of applicable codes, standards and regulations
- Knowledge of supervisory principles, practices and techniques
- Demonstrated understanding of the importance of displaying and promoting a safety first culture of Zero Harm
