Job Summary
Review and negotiate inbound commercial agreements, including customer MSAs, order forms, and vendor contracts, while managing redlines and tracking open issues to shepherd deals through signature. Serve as the primary business partner to Sales, RevOps, and Product teams by translating complex legal risks into actionable guidance and advising on data privacy, security, and compliance obligations. Build and maintain a library of standard templates and negotiation playbooks to streamline contract intake and storage processes. Scope and manage outside counsel engagements to control costs while ensuring specialized expertise is deployed effectively.
Required Qualifications
- Hold a J.D. from an accredited law school
- Licensed to practice in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
- 5–7 years of legal experience
- Meaningful time spent on commercial contracts in a SaaS or technology company environment
- Comfortable running the first few rounds of commercial negotiations independently
- Strong instincts on standard SaaS terms
- Hands-on experience with Data Processing Agreements
- Working knowledge of GDPR, CCPA, and other applicable privacy frameworks
- Skills to provide guidance to help reduce the legal risks faced by the company
- Good business sense to balance legal guidance with the company's operational goals
- Ability to communicate legal concepts in plain language
- Ability to be a partner to non-lawyers without losing precision
- Highly organized
- Ability to manage multiple open deals simultaneously
