Job Summary
Draft and negotiate commercial agreements including vendor, licensing, sponsorship, production, and technology contracts. Serve as the primary legal advisor on day-to-day operations, providing strategic counsel to executive leadership on business initiatives and intellectual property matters. Counsel internal teams on digital media, advertising, social media, and emerging issues like AI. Partner with HR on employment policies and compliance, while developing internal templates and monitoring regulatory changes. Manage relationships with outside counsel for specialized litigation and tax matters. Deliver legal training to leadership and employees on relevant compliance topics.
Required Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
- Active membership in good standing with at least one U.S. state bar
- 8-12 years of legal experience
- Meaningful in-house experience
- Demonstrated experience drafting, negotiating, and managing a broad range of commercial agreements
- Experience advising executives and business leaders on legal risk and strategic decision-making
- Excellent legal research, writing, negotiation, and communication skills
- Strong business judgment with a practical, solutions-oriented approach
- Ability to manage multiple priorities independently in a fast-paced environment
- High degree of integrity, professionalism, and discretion
- Background/familiarity with media/publishing
