Job Summary
Review, draft, and negotiate contracts including NDAs, customer service agreements, vendor contracts, and real estate leases. Collaborate with outside counsel on legal matters and support business divisions in day-to-day commercial transactions and operational needs. Assist with global and regional governance, risk assessment, and compliance programs while conducting training sessions for employees across departments. Provide legal guidance on industry-specific issues, including maritime regulations, and maintain organized records of legal documents. Stay informed about changes in relevant laws and regulations impacting the company's operations. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work in a dynamic environment supporting both domestic and international operations.
Required Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited U.S. law school
- Admission to the New Jersey Bar or eligibility to be admitted as NJ in-house counsel
- 2-5 years of relevant legal experience
- Strong negotiation and drafting skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
Desired Qualifications
- 2-5 years of legal experience, with a strong interest in the maritime industry (experience preferred but not required)
- Maritime industry experience is preferred but not required
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
- Proactive problem-solver with sound judgment
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate across functions
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal concepts clearly and provide practical, business-oriented advice to legal and non-legal stakeholders
