Job Summary

Represent and provide legal advice to the Municipal Water Contract Operations business unit, advising senior management on negotiating and administering complex long-term operation and maintenance contracts for water and wastewater treatment plants. Identify and evaluate risk factors regarding business decisions, applying effective risk management techniques to offer proactive advice on legal issues. Draft and negotiate agreements and contracts to protect the company's rights while dealing professionally with multiple stakeholders. Provide clarification on legal language, maintain current knowledge of new legislation, and promote compliance with corporate policies. Collaborate with senior management and project management to further business interests and actively participate in Legal Department activities as a team player.

Required Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in legal practice
  • Licensed to practice law in the United States
  • State bar member in good standing
  • Prior experience as in-house counsel
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • A proven ability to negotiate and draft documentation for sophisticated commercial transactions
  • Adept at working with minimal supervision on multiple time-sensitive projects
  • Ability to interface with colleagues at all levels of the organization
