Job Summary
As Axon’s Corporate Counsel for Commercial matters, you will partner with Sales, Supply Chain, Software and Hardware Engineering, Product and IT to structure, negotiate, and optimize complex contracts for Axon’s goods, services, and SaaS solutions across global markets. You will draft and maintain template language, lead contract lifecycle processes, supervise Contracts Managers, perform risk analyses, ensure regulatory compliance, and provide strategic legal guidance to a growing, global sales organization. The role requires a J.D. and bar admission, at least five years of in-house or equivalent experience negotiating high-volume commercial contracts (including SaaS, hardware, and services), and demonstrated ability to negotiate IP licensing and ownership agreements, collaborate cross-functionally, mentor colleagues, and drive scalable contracting processes. The position offers a hybrid work arrangement with locations in Scottsdale, AZ; Boston, MA; or New York, NY, and emphasizes collaboration, process improvement, and a proactive, business-oriented legal partner mindset.
Required Qualifications
- J.D. and member in good standing with at least one U.S. state bar
- Minimum of 5 years of experience negotiating and managing complex commercial contracts
- Experience negotiating intellectual property licensing and ownership agreements
- Ability to structure, draft, and negotiate a high volume of commercial contracts for SaaS, hardware, and services
- Experience supporting large and dynamic organizations
- Experience negotiating international agreements
- Experience designing, implementing, and administering contract lifecycle processes
- Deep understanding of contract tools and related software (e.g., CLMs, Salesforce, Microsoft Office)
- Ability to act with urgency on all requests
- Pass-first attitude with a desire to train and mentor others
