Job Summary
Corporate Counsel responsible for technology/commercial contracting and privacy/security work, primarily supporting buy-side procurement, SaaS/IT vendor agreements, and B2B security/privacy negotiations, with additional emphasis on AI governance, brand counsel, and customer experience. The role includes reviewing and negotiating a broad range of contracts (SaaS, MSAs, NDAs), improving contracting processes, maintaining privacy program tasks (processing records, DPIAs, DSAR coordination), and contributing to AI governance and risk mitigation. The counselor will partner with procurement, technology, security, product, and CX teams, develop pragmatic guidance and trainings, and escalate novel or high-risk issues to the AGC. Requires strong judgment, business-minded legal advice, and the ability to translate complex concepts into actionable paths, with in-office duties at Safelite’s Columbus, OH location.
Required Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) from a top tier accredited law school
- Admission to practice in relevant jurisdiction(s) (preferably Ohio)
- 4-6 years of in-house corporate and/or law firm experience focused on technology contracting (SaaS/cloud, MSAs/SOWs, vendor procurement)
- Working knowledge of privacy and security issues in contracts (DPAs, incident terms, vendor diligence)
- Familiarity with state privacy law regulatory structures and compliance requirements
- Ability to support operational privacy workflows (DSAR/DPIA)
- Familiarity with marketing/CX review topics (disclosures, endorsements, advertising claims, consent UX)
- IP experience (trademark/copyright/patent) is a plus but not required
- Strong analytical, writing, and communication skills; ability to translate legal concepts into actionable guidance
- Ability to anticipate regulatory or enforcement risks and design mitigation strategies
- Experience building playbooks, clause libraries, and self-service resources to improve cycle time and consistency
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and high-stakes matters with a solutions-oriented mindset
- In-office work location with a requirement to work at the Columbus, OH office at least 4 days a week
