Job Summary
Prepare monthly and quarterly financial statements for subsidiaries, manage the month-end close process including journal entries and account reconciliations, and ensure assigned general ledger accounts are accurate. Serve as system owner for accounting and financial reporting systems while driving improvements in efficiency and controls. Monitor operating results against budget, analyze variances, and support leadership with timely financial insights for strategic decision-making. Oversee finance staff development through coaching and performance feedback, and manage compliance tasks including annual audit reviews, tax return filings, and covenant calculations. Requires a CPA preferred with five years of progressive accounting experience in retail, wholesale, or fuel environments.
Required Qualifications
- Strong understanding of finance, accounting, budgeting, cost control, and GAAP
- Proven ability to manage, coach, and develop staff while fostering accountability and continuous improvement
- Strong planning, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field
- 5 years of progressive responsibilities in private or public accounting
- Previous experience in retail, wholesale, fuel, or multi-location business environments
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods while working at a computer
- The position requires frequent use of hands and fingers for typing and operating office equipment
- The ability to communicate effectively in person, by telephone, and through electronic communication
- The employee must be able to view and read information on computer screens and printed materials
- Occasional standing, walking, bending, reaching, and occasionally lifting or carrying items weighing up to 25 pounds
