Job Summary
Corporate Controller responsible for managing the daily operations of the accounting department at Midland States Bank. Leads general ledger activities, month-end/year-end close, reconciliations, internal reporting, and internal controls maintenance, while ensuring GAAP/SOX compliance. Prepares external reporting packages (e.g., 10-Q, 10-K), supports acquisitions and financial analysis, mentors and develops the accounting team, and manages budgeting and financial modeling. Requires CPA, extensive banking accounting experience, and a proven track record of leadership and process improvements; occasional travel and possible in-office collaboration.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
- CPA certification required
- Public accounting experience with a Big 4 firm strongly preferred
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive accounting experience in financial services
- Minimum of 7 years leading teams with coaching/motivation
- Minimum of 7 years of significant bank accounting experience
- Working knowledge of GAAP as it relates to banking
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage complex problems with multiple variables
- Willingness to travel occasionally
