Job Summary
Corporate Controller (HVAC industry) overseeing the company’s financial operations, including accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, job costing, WIP schedules, and compliance. Responsible for GAAP-compliant WIP reporting, billing, revenue recognition, month/year-end close, internal controls, and collaboration with field operations and HR/payroll. Requires 8+ years of accounting experience with at least 3 years in a controller or senior leadership role, plus construction/mechanical trades exposure. Proficiency in ERP/accounting software such as Foundation, Viewpoint, Sage 300 CRE, QuickBooks Contractor Edition, and tools like ServiceTitan; CPA preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field (required); CPA preferred.
- 8+ years of progressive accounting experience with at least 3 years in a controller or senior accounting leadership role.
- Prior experience in the construction, mechanical contracting, HVAC, plumbing, or other skilled trades industry is required.
- Strong understanding of WIP accounting, job costing, and contract billing practices.
- Proficiency in construction-related accounting software (e.g., Foundation, Viewpoint, Sage 300 CRE, QuickBooks Contractor Edition, or similar ERP systems).
- Deep knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and financial statement preparation.
- Strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills with the ability to collaborate across departments.
