Corporate Communications Specialist

Job Summary
Create and manage content for external and internal communications, including newsletters, media releases, and digital ad copy. Write, coordinate, and execute program-specific communication plans while building relationships with senior leadership to extract key messages. Liaise with external vendors for PR and translation services, and support media relations plans to raise awareness of Alterna. Monitor and report on the success of all corporate communications initiatives and assist with change management methodologies. Act as an ambassador for Alterna's brand through professional presentations and diplomacy.
Required Qualifications
- Post-secondary Degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing or related disciplines
- minimum of five years in a communications role of this level
- Demonstrated ability to research, plan, write and execute on external and internal communications projects
- Advanced writing skills: media releases, speeches, scripts, presentations, newsletters, ad copy as well as web and social media content
- Experience in project managing communications streams on complex implementations and programs
- Proven ability to edit content into text that is clear, consistent and easy to understand
- Professional and responsible in dealing with senior level decision makers
- Strong analytical and organizational skills
- Ability to work autonomously, manage competing priorities and juggle various communications initiatives
- High level of proficiency in all MS Office suite products
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working in financial services is an asset
- Bilingualism (French/English) is a strong asset
