Job Summary
A Deputy Sheriff Corporal acts as a supervisory member within Lancaster County Sheriff's Office, performing duties including assigning Deputies to daily tasks, coordinating prisoner transports, overseeing quartermaster functions (fleet and equipment), managing service of Protection from Abuse Orders, conducting background investigations, coordinating training and certification for deputies, maintaining evidence custody logs, handling civil paperwork, and performing various duties as assigned by Sheriff/Chief Deputy/Lieutenant. The role requires strong physical stamina, outdoor work in all weather, adherence to training standards, and ongoing certification maintenance; prior law enforcement experience and PA certifications (Act 2/ACT 120) are preferred or required for eligibility.
Required Qualifications
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Must have a High School diploma or GED equivalent
- Must possess a valid Pennsylvania Driver's license and acceptable driving record
- Prefer three years of experience as a deputy sheriff, police officer or law enforcement professional
- Must be Act 2-certified or able to obtain Act 2 certification
- If ACT 120 certified or able to obtain ACT 120 certification, must complete PCCD two-week waiver training
- Must complete mandatory annual training and re-certifications
