Job Summary
Observe, monitor, and assess track surface conditions while stationed at various points of danger around the race track. Provide consistent information to drivers using racing flags and signals to warn of track conditions. Observe competitors for driving behavior and mechanical issues, then help drivers and others during incidents. Communicate critical information to the radio tower, stewards, and emergency medical responders. This safety-sensitive role requires working weekdays, weekends, and evenings in all weather, with no supervisory responsibilities.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- one to three months related experience and/or training
- equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
- Ability to write simple correspondence
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
- Must be willing to work weekdays and weekends, and some evenings
- Ability to work in all types of weather
- Must be able to stand regularly
- Must be able to walk and reach with hands and arms frequently
- Must be able to use hands to finger, handle, or feel occasionally
- Must be able to climb or balance occasionally
- Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl occasionally
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
