Job Summary
Finish and close molds made by molding machines to prepare them for pouring. Lift cores by hand or using a hoist, sand rough edges, and set cores in molds. Place cope seals, rods, gaggers, and venting holes; inspect sprue alignment and make final assembly of the core. Use a forklift to move cores, pallets, and racks. Sweep, shovel, clean the muller daily, and sand the cooler weekly. Ensure safety rules are followed and report equipment malfunctions to proper authority. Perform other work as instructed by supervision.
Required Qualifications
- Must be able to lift cores by hand or using a hoist
- Must be able to use compressed air to blow loose sand off cores
- Must be able to sand rough edges on cores
- Must be able to set cores in mold
- Must be able to place cope seal, rods and gaggers
- Must be able to place or clean venting holes with a vent drill
- Must be able to blow out molds
- Must be able to set and anchor cores and sleeves
- Must be able to inspect sprue alignment
- Must be able to make final assembly of core on the molding line
- Must be able to use forklift to move cores, pallets and racks
- Must be able to sweep and shovel when needed
- Must be able to clean muller daily and sand cooler weekly
- Must know safety rules that apply to the safety of others and to personal safety
- Must be able to report malfunction of equipment to proper authority
