Job Summary
Greet day center clients upon entry, provide referrals, and monitor direct services including showers, clothing, and storage. Train new staff, interns, and volunteers on station procedures while upholding safety, cleanliness, and service standards. Handle crisis situations such as medical emergencies, conflicts, and agitated guests, and assist with de-escalation. Perform cleaning duties, laundry, mail sorting, and weekly storage purges. Participate in daily shift meetings to document incidents and guest conditions. Apply this experience to the part-time, non-exempt role at St. Francis Center, an Episcopal Diocese institution serving homeless adults in Denver.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to work with people and offer respectful customer service
- Ability to work with people who may be experiencing difficult life trauma and might be showing signs of that trauma in their actions and communication
- Ability to de-escalate individuals experiencing a crisis, or willingness to learn and develop effective de-escalation skills
- Ability to listen to community members' needs
- Strong professional boundaries
- Willingness to participate in SFC trainings to complement services in a trauma-informed manner
Desired Qualifications
- Associate or bachelor's degree and/or 2 - 3 years experience working with vulnerable populations preferred
- Prior work experience in a shelter environment and/or with persons experiencing homelessness/addictions/mental health challenges preferred
- Basic computer skills necessary, and familiarity with Microsoft Office programs a plus
