Job Summary
Core Lab Generalist role focuses on performing, reviewing, and reporting complex laboratory tests in a fast-paced clinical setting at Navicent Health Medical Center. Night shift (10 PM–8 AM, 7 on/7 off) includes maintaining lab quality and safety, operating and troubleshooting laboratory equipment, preparing reagents, managing inventory, and training new staff. The position requires registration/certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist or equivalent, a bachelor’s degree with specific science coursework, and the ability to work with Laboratory Information Systems, ensure chemical/biohazard safety, and communicate effectively with peers and leadership. Licensure/Certification: ASCP/AMT/AAB/NCA or equivalent, with certification exam within 12 months if registry-eligible. Education: High School diploma or GED plus a BS with chemistry, biology, and math coursework. Experience: None required. Physical requirements include ability to handle biohazards and lift up to 50 pounds, with the role conducted in a clinical lab environment.
Required Qualifications
- Registration as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MT, MLS, CLT, CLS) by the Board of Registry as ASCP, AMT, AAB (AAB with 15yrs.experience), NCA, HHS certification or equivalent
- If registry eligible all newly hired technical staff must pass an approved certification exam within twelve (12) months of placement in this occupational classification
- Must be a High School or GED Diploma Graduate
- Baccalaureate degree from accredited college or university to include minimum of 30 quarter hours of lecture science, including at least 15 quarter hours of chemistry, 10 quarter hours of biology and 5 quarter hours of math
