Job Summary
Develop high-quality code for large-scale data platforms that optimize performance and scalability across PlayStation systems. Collaborate with global teams across multiple time zones to support data cataloging, analytics, and ETL/ELT pipelines while building services for structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data. Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, participate in production on-call rotations for critical issue troubleshooting, and maintain platform documentation. Present engineering contributions in team demos and ensure reliability through rigorous testing, monitoring, and deployment best practices. Work within an agile environment to drive technical goals and support data-driven features for millions of users.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science
- 3+ years of direct experience developing scalable, distributed systems
- Proficient in at least one language: Scala, Java, or Python
- Experience building or maintaining cloud-based applications/services
- Exposure to event streaming platforms such as Kafka, Kinesis, or SQS and Data Ingestion
- Familiarity with distributed data processing frameworks like Apache Spark or Apache Flink
- Understanding of CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, and observability best practices
- Comfortable working in a globally distributed team
- Willingness to participate in production on-call rotations
Desired Qualifications
- AWS preferred
- GCP is a plus
- Exposure to Databricks or similar unified data platforms
- Experience working with unstructured data formats such as images, video, or audio
- Familiarity with data cataloging, lineage, and metadata tools
- Experience supporting platform-scale features such as ETL frameworks, analytics services, or data quality checks
- Knowledge of GCP or multi-cloud environments
- Curiosity and enthusiasm for tackling scalability and reliability challenges
