Job Summary
Operate a heavy equipment vehicle according to state and federal laws, transporting loads safely and in a timely manner over required routes. Deftly maneuver the truck and trailer into loading and unloading areas while following crew signals, and assist with or perform loading and unloading of goods using specialized equipment. Maintain signed invoices and shipping documentation, and facilitate routine service checks on the vehicle, reporting any malfunctions to the Shipping Supervisor. Arrange trailers in shipping yards for optimum loading patterns and perform other related duties as assigned. Schedule is Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with overtime pay after 40 hours and on-call rotation available. Requires a Class A CDL or appropriate state license, DOT physical, and background check.
Required Qualifications
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to speak professionally and courteously with customers and staff at delivery points
- Ability to remain focused in a busy environment
- Must hold either a commercial drivers license (Class A CDL) or chauffeur's license depending on state, appropriate for weight of vehicle to be operated
- Must pass background and drug testing as required by federal and/or state department(s) of transportation regulations
- Must pass DOT physical, as trucks driven are over 10k lbs
- Must be at least 21 years old to operate company vehicle
- Must be able to lift and move up to 40 pounds at a time
- Must be able to travel frequently
- CDL drivers may be required to be clean shaven in order to deliver to EquipmentShare customers who have this requirement
- Employment is contingent on passing a background check
- some roles require passing a drug test, depending on the job responsibilities
