Job Summary
Proofread and edit proposals, solicitations, presentations, and marketing materials for grammar, spelling, punctuation, consistency, and adherence to style guidelines. Review documents for formatting, headings, acronyms, and cross-references while maintaining version control and incorporating contributor revisions. Assist the Proposal Manager with final quality-control reviews and departmental administrative duties, collaborating with writers and subject matter experts to ensure technical accuracy. Learn proposal development processes, document standards, and government contracting stages through hands-on support and feedback. Work 15–25 hours weekly (40 hours for summer interns) on-site at the KIHOMAC Byron, Georgia facility.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Actively enrolled in a post-high school education program in one of the following fields of study: English, Communications, Journalism, Technical Writing, Professional Writing, Business Administration, Marketing
- Basic understanding of written communication, grammar, punctuation, spelling, and document organization
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and written and verbal communication skills
- Basic knowledge of grammar, spelling, punctuation, and professional writing conventions
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Word
- Ability to review written material for consistency, clarity, formatting, and grammatical accuracy
- Ability and willingness to learn new software, processes, and document standards
- US citizen
- Able to occasionally reach with hands and arms
- Able to safely lift and carry up to 20 pounds at a time
Desired Qualifications
- Junior/Senior students with 3.0+ Overall GPAs or 3.5 Program GPAs
- Familiarity with Microsoft PowerPoint
- Familiarity with Adobe Acrobat
