Job Summary
Operate and manage Climbing, Bouldering, and Rappelling facilities and programs. Train and manage staff to ensure safe, fun program delivery while maintaining a clean, organized, and inspected work area. Handle paperwork and inventory control for operations, equipment, conditions, and facilities. Effectively maintain a training and practitioner experience portfolio and ensure Climbing staff are fully trained in all emergency procedures. Provide periodic performance evaluations of staff and partake in disciplinary actions. Model the Scout Oath and Law in daily interactions and abide by policies and procedures outlined in the SBR staff handbook. Perform additional duties assigned by SBR leadership. Complete the Annual Health and Medical Record. Work 45-55 hours daily standing, walking, hiking up to 8 hours, and lifting/moving up to 70 pounds. Must obtain BSA COPE Director Certification.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum age: 21+
- Must have or able to obtain BSA COPE Director Certification (training provided)
- Required 1+ yr. leading teams
- Prefer 1+ Summit employment
- Willing to become a registered Scouting America member (includes background screening)
- Comfortable using Microsoft Teams for daily work-related communication
- Ability to stand, walk, and hike up to 8 hours daily
- Ability to lift/move up to 70 pounds
- Complete the Annual Health and Medical Record, including height/weight guidelines
Desired Qualifications
- Documented training assistant experience
- 150 hours of climbing facility experience
- High emotional intelligence (such as self/social awareness and team dynamics)
- Positive and cheerful attitude with a strong customer-service focus
- Adaptability in a fast-paced environment with ability to learn/develop hard and soft skills
- Ability to connect with individuals from diverse age groups, maturity, and backgrounds
