Job Summary
Coordinate and execute the site's water management program by supporting infrastructure, monitoring programs, data management, and regulatory compliance. Conduct routine field inspections, troubleshooting, and performance verification of water management infrastructure and hydrometric stations to ensure accurate water accounting. Maintain and update the water balance model while supporting water forecasting and operational decision-making. Provide technical editing of permitting applications and prepare reports to meet regulatory commitments. Collaborate with Operations, Mine Engineering, Environment, and external stakeholders to support short- and long-term objectives. Participate in health and safety programs and advise on surface water, groundwater, and hydrology monitoring. Work a compressed week with alternating Fridays off in the Elk Valley of British Columbia.
Required Qualifications
- Degree or diploma in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Biology, Forestry, Agriculture, or a related field
- 2–5 years of experience supporting water management, environmental management, hydrology or mining operations
- Registered, or eligible to apply as a qualified professional such as RP BIO, P.Eng., RPF or related designation
- Experience with data analysis, QA/QC and reporting
- Comfortable working in, or experience working in, an active mining environment with regular field exposure in varying terrain and weather conditions
- Demonstrated ability to balance office-based technical work with routine field inspections and operational support
- Experience with hydrometric data collection and systems and maintaining or supporting Water Balance Models
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite®: Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License or equivalent
- Must be willing to satisfy the pre-employment requirements of a pre-employment drug screen
- Must be willing to provide three professional references
