Job Summary
Support the firm's PR strategy by identifying story ideas, securing media interview opportunities, and handling writing projects including news releases and media briefing documents. Monitor daily media coverage of the firm, its practices, and lawyers to compile weekly and quarterly reports for management. Develop relationships with local, trade, and national media while building and maintaining department media lists. Monitor editorial calendars to identify relevant PR opportunities, including nominations for legal, trade, and business publications, and assist in social media content creation. This energetic coordinator generates fresh ideas to ensure campaigns remain cutting-edge and impactful within Mayer Brown's Commercial department in Chicago or New York.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- Minimum three years experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel
- Must be able to access and use online and electronic newswire services, media tracking services and internet research resources
- Proficient and accurate typing skills
- Knowledge of social media platforms (LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, X, YouTube, and TikTok)
- Excellent written and oral communication skills (grammar/spelling/proofreading/tone)
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and multi-task, manage multiple projects, and adapt to shifting priorities under tight deadlines
- Excellent interpersonal skills – must be able to work in a collegial team environment and communicate tactfully with all internal staff and outside contacts
- Enthusiastic self-starter with eagerness to work independently
- Exercise solid strategic thinking and problem-solving skills and able to anticipate needs
- May require occasional lifting of up to 20 lbs
Desired Qualifications
