Job Summary

Coordinate patient access teams for Emory Hospitals by defining staff duties, assigning work, and monitoring progress to ensure timely task completion. Provide continuity during employee training, deliver performance feedback, and address problems for new and existing staff. Obtain demographic and insurance information for preregistration, communicate financial policies, identify patients needing early financial counseling, and collect co-pays and deductibles. Schedule procedures and follow-up appointments in General Patient Registration Millennium Scheduling while reviewing reports to identify trends. Serve as the point person for employee questions, lead team huddles, and coordinate workflow across Access Departments and Facilities.

  • Must have typing skills with a minimum of 35 wpm
  • Must be able to lift 11-20 lbs
  • Must be able to lift 1-10 lbs
  • Must be able to lift 20 lbs max
  • Must be able to carry objects up to 10 lbs
  • Must be able to stand and walk occasionally to frequently
  • Must be able to sit occasionally to frequently
  • Must be able to perform close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing)
  • Must be able to work in an environment with Blood-borne pathogen exposure
  • Must be able to work in an environment with Bio-hazardous waste
  • Must be able to work in an environment with Chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors
  • Must be able to work in an environment with Communicable diseases
  • Must be able to work in an environment with Electrical shock
  • Must be able to work in an environment with Floor Surfaces
  • Must be able to work in an environment with Hot/Cold Temperatures
  • Must be able to work in an environment with Indoor/Outdoor conditions
  • Must be able to work in an environment with Latex
  • Must be able to work in an environment with Lighting
  • Must be able to work in an environment with Patient care/handling injuries
  • Must be able to work in an environment with Radiation
  • Must be able to work in an environment with Shift work
  • Must be able to travel
  • Must be able to use personal protective equipment, including respirators

Desired Qualifications

  • Three years healthcare, customer services or related job experience
  • Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and other commercial payers (HMO, PPO)
  • CHAA (Certified Healthcare Access Associate) certification
  • CFC (Certified Financial Counselor) certification
  • CPAR (Certified Patient Account Representative) certification
  • Associate or bachelor degree
