Job Summary
Coordinator of Youth Ministries leads the Life Teen youth ministry program at the parish, coordinating planning, development, scheduling, and evaluation of high school catechetical and youth ministry initiatives. Responsibilities include recruiting and training volunteers, developing youth leadership, maintaining the youth office, promoting programs within the parish and community, coordinating retreats and summer programming, managing class schedules, ensuring parent education, publicizing programs, and collaborating with the Pastor and Youth Ministry Director on goals for Christian Formation. Requires knowledge of adolescent development, current trends in youth ministry, ability to work under pressure, strong organization and record-keeping, and willingness to work flexible hours including weekends; must have a valid Arizona driver's license and participate in Diocesan Safe Environment Training.
Required Qualifications
- Knowledge of adolescent development and youth ministry methods
- Willingness to stay current in trends of youth ministry and catechesis of youth
- Ability to work under pressure in collaborative ministry with parish staff
- Maintain accurate records on youth; organized program planning and scheduling
- Experience in planning and coordinating youth ministry programs with Life Teen emphasis
- Ability to recruit, interview and train volunteers (adults and teens) for programs
- Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and evenings
- Diocesan Safe Environment Training completion
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field or Youth Minister Certificate preferred
- Three years' experience in ministry preferred
