Job Summary

Coordinate and direct operational management of capital development programs through the California Department of Education. Submit required forms for site acquisition funding, identify and evaluate sites, and conduct toxic material assessments. Assist in establishing facilities management plans, analyze budgets and contracts, and oversee project closeout expenditures. Coordinate and supervise assigned personnel while maintaining current knowledge of applicable legislation and regulations. Provide technical support for maintenance and repairs at school sites and oversee all real estate and property matters. Submit required reports to leadership and maintain District guidelines for capital development.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in architecture, city planning or related field
  • Four years of management with increasing responsibility
  • Supervisory experience in real estate, design, production or field supervisory experience in various types of construction
  • Educational, commercial, multi-residential, and public sector projects
  • Valid California Driver's License
  • Employment eligibility will include fingerprints, tuberculosis and/or other employment clearance
  • Knowledge of principles of real estate, facilities planning, architectural design, and construction management
  • Knowledge of practices of architecture and construction processes
  • Knowledge of site acquisition and disposition; site planning, civil, structural, and other disciplines pertinent to schools, industrial, commercial and office facilities
  • Knowledge of applicable codes, ordinances and regulations for local, state, and federal jurisdictions
  • Ability to manage several programs at various levels and phases of completion
  • Ability to meet schedules and timelines
  • Ability to analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action
  • Ability to train and supervise personnel
  • Ability to operate a computer terminal to enter data, maintain records, prepare and generate reports
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, orally and in writing
  • Ability to read, interpret, apply and explain rules, regulations, policies, and procedures
