Job Summary
Coordinator, Environment at Elk Valley Resources on-site at a surface steel-making coal mine in Elkford, BC. Responsible for regulatory environmental compliance (air permit, waste permit under the Environmental Management Act, and Spill Reporting Regulations), coordinating environmental management and monitoring programs, data analysis and reporting to government agencies, and supporting continual improvement. Builds relationships with Communities of Interest, supervises contractors, develops and tracks budgets, and facilitates field work and regulatory/operational reporting. Requires a degree/diploma in Engineering or Environmental Science (or related subject) and at least three years in environmental compliance or monitoring, experience with environmental data management (GIS/EQuIS) and MS Office, and a valid driver's license. On-site role with a compressed work week and alternating Fridays off. Pre-employment drug screen and three references are part of the process. Required Qualifications
- Degree or Diploma in Engineering or Environmental Science, or other related subject area, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum three years demonstrated ability in the field of environmental compliance or monitoring, in an industrial environment
- Knowledge and experience with relevant environmental practices, processes, and legislation
- Environmental project management experience, including Contractor supervision
- Experience with environmental data management, analysis, reporting, and utilizing database software (e.g. GIS/EQuIS) and proficient with Microsoft Office Suite®
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License or equivalent
