Job Summary

As our new Coordinator, Early Learning Centre, you will support the Director across staff recruitment/training, supervise co-op students, provide short-period coverage, implement policy changes, and ensure compliance with licensing standards. You will lead AQI performance across Windermere and Parkdale centres, conduct in-room audits, review AQI scores, and embed AQI expectations into daily practice to maintain strong, publicly reported scores. You will coach educators, address gaps in real time, and oversee adherence to regulations (Ministry Licensing standards, AQI, Toronto Public Health guidelines, and Ethics/Standards of Practice). You will assist with change management (including land-based and outdoor learning requirements), prepare materials, update bulletin boards, and take minutes at staff and Parent Advisory meetings. You will support operations, manage building issues with management approval, order supplies, and ensure safe operation and timely repairs of equipment. Requirements include a diploma or degree in Early Childhood Education, current certification, AQI experience, regulatory knowledge, operational capability, and strong leadership and interpersonal skills. The role is a 15-month maternity-leave contract based in Toronto, with alternating weeks between Windermere and Parkdale centres, and offers competitive compensation within the sector.

Required Qualifications

  • Diploma or degree in Early Childhood Education
  • Member in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR (Level C)
  • Hands-on experience in a licensed childcare setting in a leadership/coordination role
  • Knowledge of AQI framework (Assessment for Quality Improvement)
  • Understanding of CCEYA (2014), AQI, ELECT and HDLH (How Does Learning Happen?)
  • Ability to coach and support educators, lead audits and ensure compliance with regulations
  • Experience with program operations, documentation, reporting, and systems (MS Office, Dayforce, HiMama)
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Vulnerability Sector Check clearance when employed
