Job Summary
Conduct individual mental health counseling and crisis intervention while managing a caseload of students. Develop treatment plans, assess progress, and create action plans that integrate counseling with care coordination for comprehensive student support. Document sessions in compliance with legal standards and assist with CARE Reports. Operate the Wolves Essentials Pantry and micro-pantries to ensure equitable access to food and hygiene products. Co-develop networks of community agencies and implement wellness programming, workshops, and psychoeducation. Respond to immediate campus crises by traveling between locations for assessment and protocol execution. Prepare monthly and annual reports on case management activities and consult with faculty on distress management.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in social work or counseling
- Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the State of Illinois
- Two (2) years of experience working with clients/students in conducting case management, individual counseling, and crisis intervention in a support team approach environment
- Knowledge of related sexual violence, domestic violence, mental health, and disability laws
- Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills and ability to work as a part of a team
- Demonstrate a commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment for all students, with a particular focus on addressing barriers faced by historically underserved and marginalized groups
- Demonstrated ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
- Proficient in Word, Outlook and Excel with ability to learn specific software such as Maxient, Navigate, Titanium, and Ellucian Colleague
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with other members of the college and community, displaying cultural competence as well as emotional intelligence
- Maintains own professional liability/malpractice insurance
- English and Spanish verbal and written communication proficiency
- Demonstrated multicultural competence
- Flexibility for occasional evenings, weekends, and travel between campuses
Desired Qualifications
- Experience at the community college or university counseling center
- Experience working with more severe psychopathology
- Working knowledge of social service agencies and Medicaid eligibility and enrollment
- Experience in providing counseling/case management services via remote methods, such as video or phone
- Focus on being student-centered with a passion for student life and associated best practices in the context of higher education
